So I have a weekly goal, or writing a chapter of Grey each week. Some chapters may be short, and some may be long, but each chapter must be self-contained and thus I may not reach my weekly goal. The length of the chapter won’t be based upon how much time I have, but if that chapter is completed at the point that we’re moving on to the next part of the story.
My idea is to write each chapter as if it were a short story with an awful lot of background information. I’m trying to build a plot system that doesn’t restrict my “character writing” or “streaming” style of writing, while still allowing for the creation of an over-arching plot that builds upon the story.
Thus far, my second chapter is 30% as large as my 1st chapter already, but feels like only the first 10%. So I expect the second to be much longer in the long-run. The third chapter will likely be about as long as the first. But the 4th, or 1.1, that will be a doozy.
