Current Reading

I have a bad tendency to read in bursts. I’m in school so arguably it makes sense that I read when I have time as I’m forced to read non-standardly. That’s a hell of a morphological process. Non-standardly. Not sure it’s a word but I press on. I have three books about writing fiction I’m in the process of reading, Stephen Kings In Writing, Deborah Chester’s The Fantasy Fiction’s Formula, and Christopher Vogler’s The Writer’s Journey. I plan on adding a how-to on poetry in there soon, as I feel I still don’t have a strong grip on rhythm and meter. If anyone has any suggestions I’ll always listen.

J.D Mullenary Sr., a.k.a. AbnormalVAverage, is a teacher and Esports coach based in Texas. He grew up on the beach in California, enjoying its temperate climate and boundless enthusiasm for life. After completing his first degree at nineteen, he felt that he needed to grow up and discover new experiences. With that in mind, he joined the military, earning a second degree in the process, and served for four years. After receiving his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, helped raise his two sons, and returned to college with a focus on English and teaching. Now, he spends his time writing when he can, teaching students and Esports players the values of critical thinking, while still fostering all of the strays his wife brings to their home.
